Most of us will have experienced this at some time, either from a household appliance, sink or toilet. This often involves a reasonably small amount of sanitary water leaking from a pipe or fitting. Usually discovered quickly this type of flooding causes only minor damage but, if not discovered and left, even for a short period of time because the property is multi-storey or unoccupied, this can very quickly escalate to a severe flood.

Absolutely Cleans’ flood technician is IICRC trained in water damage restoration, ensuring each and every job is effectively managed. Although not every flood job will require specialist drying, it’s always good to know that Absolutely Clean is up to the job with our range of specialist equipment.
It’s true to say that lots of the jobs we attend require only minor services like water extraction, using our powerful truck mounted system, and then minor strip out followed by dehumidifiers being installed for a few days. It’s when the property has been completely flooded, or has been sitting wet for a long time, the need for more specialist desiccant drying becomes necessary. Mould treatment and extensive strip-out may be required to complete the job quickly. Specialist testing and monitoring will quickly determine what action needs to be taken to keep the drying process effective and return the property to use as quickly as possible. We will work alongside loss adjusters/assessors and issue a dry certificate on completion of the job.

Every single job should start with a thorough inspection and report into what needs to be done to quickly and effectively dry the property. This can often be lengthy and, to some, seem unnecessary, but we believe it will save time in the long run, if resources are put in the right place at the right time. All rooms are measured and everything is photographed and documented. Damp readings are then taken in every room determining humidity, temperature and hygroscopic damage.
Non-damaging testing for damp penetration and hazardous substances, like asbestos, will be carried out. Costs determined at this time may be only approximate until any strip out work is complete. A full health and safety risk assessment will also be carried out to determine if things like the ceiling is stable and electrics are safe to use.
